Ancient and Classical Art Spring 2005 Syllabus
ART 351-01
Class meets: Tues.
7:15-9:55pm
This is an upper level research course that
deals with Ancient Greece from the middle Bronze Age through the
Hellenistic Period. The course is not intended to be a survey of
ancient Greece, but rather a topics oriented seminar. Assigned
readings as well as individual research projects form the basis
for the class.

Requirements/Grading:
20% - Analysis and reaction to weekly
readings in open class discussion will focus on scheduled topics
of inquiry. Brief bullet-point outlines of the assigned articles are to be
handed in each week (1-2 pages). Weekly art object: Choose one
piece from any period in Ancient Greece to discuss in class.
40% - Research Report I

loss of an entire week's work.
