  • ArtChive: Gallery of images indexed by artist thanks to Mark Harden's laborious efforts.

  • ArtNet: Contemporary Art Resource including artist and gallery listings.

  • ArtStor: Largest digital image library online. Institutional subscribers only. Can be accessed from libraries, universities and museums.

  • College Art Association: The membership organization for those involved in all aspects of art and art history. Publishes Art Bulletin and Art Journal.

  • Getty Research Institute

  • Grove Art Online/Grove Dictionary of Art: Resource on the visual arts from prehistory to present day. Over 45,000 articles on fine arts, decorative arts, and architecture. Over 130,000 images with links to hundreds of museums and galleries around the world. Subscribers only . Can be accessed through institutional subscribers - ie. libraries, universities, etc.

  • JStor: Scholarly journal archive. Search journal articles in full text. Institutional subscribers only.

  • National Geographic Society: Information on world geography & culture.

  •               The Genographic Project- Trace your deepest ancestry through analysis of your DNA.

  • New York Public Library, NYPL Catalog search engine and NYPL Digital Image Gallery

  • Perseus Digital Library of Tufts University: Source materials digital library. Especially for research in Classics. Overview of Greek history.

  • Project Muse: Scholarly journals online. Institutional subscribers only. Can be accessed at the NYPL and some colleges and universities.

  • Society of Architectural Historians: The Society of Architectural Historians is an international not-for-profit membership organization that promotes the study and preservation of the built environment worldwide. Fellowships & grants.

  • Wadsworth Publishing: Includes study aids for Gardner's Art Through the Ages, which include practice quizzes, flashcards, timelines, chapter outlines and topics links, etc. Very useful tool!

  • Web Gallery of Art: virtual museum and searchable database of European painting and sculpture from 12th to mid-19th centuries.
